Cricket Pitch Dimensions

 The Pitch

The greater part of the activity happens in the focal point of this ground, on a rectangular earth strip ordinarily with short grass called the pitch. The pitch estimates 22 yards (20 m) long.

At each finish of the pitch three upstanding wooden stakes, called the stumps, are pounded into the ground. Two wooden stakes, known as the bails, sit in grooves on the stumps, connecting each to its neighbor. Each set of three stumps and two bails is aggregately known as a wicket. One finish of the pitch is assigned the batting end where the batsman stands and the other is assigned the bowling end where the bowler runs into a bowl. The region of the field on the line joining the wickets where the batsman holds his bat (the right-hand side for a right-gave batsman, the left for a left-hander) is known as the offside, the other as the leg side, or as an afterthought.

Lines drawn or painted on the pitch are known as wrinkles. Wrinkles are utilized to settle the excusals of batsmen, by showing where the batsmen's grounds are, and to decide if a conveyance is reasonable.
